This notice is to inform the Kensington Market community that the BIA is organizing a pedestrian lighting mock-up on 10th August 2022, Wednesday from 8:00 PM-midnight. Should it rain on the 10th of August, the mock-up will be held on Thursday, 11th August 2022, during the same time as before. Location: 64 Oxford St. (on the Augusta Ave side of the building).

 

The mock-up is intended to allow the community and the BIA to choose one of three lighting fixtures for the project. Pedestrian Lighting is a cost-shared project with the City of Toronto as part of Kensington Safe Streets.

 

The BIA is inviting Kensington Market residents and business members to come to be part of the decision-making process and help shape the market for years to come.

A mobile stage for DJs and MC/singers and live bands to collaborate in the streets of Kensington Market. The bike will be designed to have full capabilities to hold equipment and produce sound in any outdoor space.

The Gigabike stage is designed to collapse and unfold and ride away in minutes. The goal for this project is to create a space for artists to be able to perform and make income, for local establishments to be promoted and for the wellbeing of the market’s livelihood. The Gigabike will open up an innovative way to social distance and enjoy the sounds outside by local artists for years to come.
